The " Roadrunner" Flag
In the early days, right after commissioning, it was determined that Brooke was one fast ship for her day. Anytime we were up next to an oilier or supply ship we would break away to the sound of the turbines spinning up and a rapid increase of speed. Someone, and I believe it was a signalman, came up with the idea of a "Roadrunner" flag that would be broken out as we accelerated away from the servicing ship. The "flag" was as much a part of Brooke as her crew. What happened to the flag? When was the last time anyone remembers it being used.
